We often see nameplates like the one shown below, but what does each letter and number stand for?

The letters CE indicate that the product complies with the requirements of CE regulations, as ATEX is also an explosion-proof directive under the CE certification framework.
The four digits following CE represent the Notified Body number registered on the EU official website, which can be verified through the EU’s official portal.
The Ex inside the hexagon is the marking for explosion-proof products, serving as the EU explosion-proof certification mark.
II denotes the equipment group, i.e., the application zone of the product. There are two groups: "I" for equipment used in mining environments, and "II" for equipment used in non-mining environments.
The digit 2 indicates the explosive zone where the equipment can be used: 1 for Zone 0, 2 for Zone 1, and 3 for Zone 2.
G stands for gas atmosphere; D stands for dust atmosphere.
Ex is the general explosion-proof identifier.
db indicates that the type of explosion-proof protection is flameproof enclosure.
IIC means the gas in the applicable atmosphere is hydrogen or acetylene.
T4 refers to the temperature class, meaning the maximum surface temperature does not exceed 135°C.
Gb represents the equipment protection level, suitable for Zones 1 and 2 in explosive gas atmospheres.
